LIVING
a healthy life can be
like traveling the world—you need
a plan and resources or you might
wind up on a road to nowhere.
Let Halifax Regional Health
System (HRHS) help you get on the
road to good health. Join us for the
2012 Healthy Living Expo, sched-
uled Sunday, March 18, beginning
at 1 p.m. at Halifax County High
School.
The Expo will feature more than
65 educational booths where you
can learn how to find a primary care
doctor, discover new services offered
at Halifax Regional Hospital or learn
about such community resources as
the Halifax County Cancer Associa-
tion, American Red Cross, YMCA,
Emergency Preparedness, Halifax
Home Health and Hospice services,
MedAssist of Halifax and much more.
Stamp your passport
When you arrive at this year’s Expo,
you’ll receive a Passport to Good
Health that could lead to exciting door
prizes. Get your passport stamped at
each booth you visit and you’ll improve
your chance of winning. Visit the door
prize booth at the Expo for details!
Preregister for screenings
What are your cholesterol and
blood glucose levels? Knowing these
can be the first step toward prevent-
ing heart attack, heart disease and
stroke.
HRHS is again offering preregis-
tration for blood glucose and choles-
terol screening. Call
434-517-3094
to reserve your time. Blood pressure
checks, body mass index screenings
and other evaluations will also be
available.
A passport to good health
New resources
New to the Expo this year is The
Arc of Southern Virginia, which
advocates for people with intellec-
tual and developmental disabilities
and their families in Mecklenburg,
Halifax and Charlotte counties. The
Arc also works to foster full inclusion
and active participation in the com-
munity for the enrichment of the lives
of these individuals and their families
by providing community education,
support, information and referrals.
Also taking part for the first time
this year is the Halifax County AIDS
Service Organization, which pro-
vides care, coordination of services
and awareness to people affected by
HIV/AIDS in Halifax County and
the surrounding area.
With plenty to see and learn and
lots of health professionals available
to answer questions, this year’s Expo
will offer plenty of tips to help you
map your route to a healthier life.
