Health Nite
Out
‘General Surgery 101’
Surgery can be frightening and a
situation most would rather avoid.
It’s important, however, that you and
your surgeon communicate about your
preparation, the surgical procedure and
your recovery.
On Saturday, November 8,
Dr. Michelle Helms and Dr. Michael
Tozzi, general surgeons at Halifax
Surgical Associates (HSA), will present
a Health Morning Out titled “General
Surgery 101.”The event will take place
at 9 a.m. in the Leggett Auditorium at
Halifax Regional Hospital (HRH).
“People have surgery for a variety of
reasons, so we are looking to address
the overall items which are a common
thread throughout most surgeries,” says
Dr. Helms. “There is planning and prep-
aration which can be done to ensure
the best outcome from a procedure as
well as a smooth recovery.”
As the newest physicians to join
HSA—Dr. Tozzi in January and Dr. Helms
in July—the duo is eager to help edu-
cate the community.
“There may be people in our com-
munity who already have a scheduled
procedure or who are considering an
elective surgical procedure, and we
hope those individuals will join us to
learn more,” says Dr. Tozzi.
The Health Morning Out is a twist on
HRH’s traditional Health Nite Out, and
the goal is to provide an educational
opportunity at a time more suitable to
the community’s needs.
