Just like
Expansion will give long-term
care a personal touch
home
FOR
many people, there is nothing
quite like watching a new building
take shape. At MeadowView Terrace,
Halifax Regional Health System’s
long-term care afliate in Clarksville,
the sidewalk superintendents have
braved a cold winter, a wet spring
and a hot summer overseeing the
progress of the 30-bed expansion,
now in its fnal stages.
Te project has come a long way
since the November 2009 ground-
breaking. With a projected comple-
tion date of December 31, the walls
are up, the roof is on and attention is
now on the inside work.
Two new households
Funded in part by grants from
the Tobacco Commission Economic
Development Fund, the Tobacco
Commission Region Opportunity
Fund, and the American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act–Community
Development Block Grant, Meadow
View Terrace’s expansion includes
two separate household-style
additions:
w
w
A 12-bed addition with living,
dining, kitchen and activity spaces.
It will become a part of the existing
Finch Lane, creating a new 30-bed
household and reducing the current
60-bed Finch Lane to a 42-resident
household.
w
w
An 18-bed self-contained memory
support household for residents
with Alzheimer’s disease and related
forms of dementia.
Taking shape:
The two additions
to MeadowView
Terrace are nearly
complete.
