ladies! Have you decided not to
have a mammogram because your insurance won’t pay
for it? Do you have a friend who won’t have a mammo-
gram because her insurance won’t pay for it? If so, Halifax
Regional Health System (HRHS) can help.
“We are very pleased to be the recipient of funds from
the Central Virginia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the
Cure, an organization that funds unmet breast cancer
needs in our area,” says Connie Halsey, grant program
director. “And we are actively seeking women who meet
the criteria to receive a free screening mammogram.”
Who is eligible?

Women between the ages of 40 and 64.
w
w
Women living in Halifax, Charlotte or Mecklenburg
counties.
w
w
Women who have no insurance or cannot afford to pay
their insurance deductible or have insurance that does
not cover mammograms.
According to Halsey, women meeting these criteria
may request a clinical breast exam and a referral for a
mammogram from their own physician, or they may
call any of these HRHS family practice affiliates to
begin the process:
