Regional Hospital’s
implementation of computerized
provider order entry is approach-
ing rapidly. Halifax Electronic
Orders (HeO) will allow physicians
and other providers to place orders
for tests, medications, therapies
and other procedures directly into
the patient’s electronic medical
record.
e organization has been prepar-
ing for this since the fall of 2011
when work groups formed to design,
build and test the new system. Train-
ing sessions for the more than
800 individuals who will be using
HeO are well under way. Super-users
—sta well-versed in all aspects of
HeO—will also be on hand when
the system goes into operation to
assist users and to provide active and
real-time support and answers when
questions arise.

, who recently joined HRHS’s medical sta .
Beena N. Patel, DO
Dr. Patel completed her degree in osteopathy at the Lake Erie
College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. She received her
bachelor of science: physicians assistant degree from Daemen
College in Bu alo, N.Y. She completed her family medicine
residency at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Resi-
dency Program in Wilmington, N.C. Dr. Patel joined the sta at
Halifax Primary Care August 1.
Z. Ali Turk, MD
Dr. Turk joined the Halifax Regional Hospital medical sta
in July and its newest specialty practice, Halifax Neurology,
which opened July 2. He earned his medical degree from Isra
University in Pakistan. He completed his neurology residency
as well as his fellowship in neurophysiology at the University
of New Mexico. Dr. Turk is board-eligible in neurology.
