HALIFAX
Regional Dental
Clinic (HRDC) recently celebrated
its first anniversary. Since it opened
its doors on February 1, 2013, HRDC
has been busy: More than 1,900 peo-
ple have visited for checkups, fillings,
extractions or other dental work. In
fact, the clinic has provided more
than 4,400 appointments since it
opened.
HRDC was built as a partner-
ship with the generous support of
The Virginia Department of Hous-
ing and Community Development,
the Virginia Tobacco Commission,
and other partnering organizations.
Continued operating support is
provided by the Virginia Health
Care Foundation, which funds
safety net and community medical
and dental services throughout the
Commonwealth.
Convenient and
caring environment
HRDC was built to give children
a fun, easy experience at the dentist,
with plenty to keep them busy as
they have their appointment. Also,
HRDC is one of only a few local
practices that will accept Medicaid
payment for services. For children
who do not have dental coverage
at all, the clinic staff will give par-
ents information to help them get
Family Access to Medical Insurance
Security (FAMIS) coverage for their
young ones. The clinic hopes to
reach out to more than 2,400 kids
annually when it is running at full
capacity.
Now accepting appointments
HRDC is conveniently located
in the Aubrey Houghton Indus-
trial Park at 101 Aubrey’s Loop in
South Boston, off Hamilton Boule-
vard, next to Halifax Primary Care.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday
